What is a Breastfeeding Medicine GP?
Breastfeeding medicine combines the expertise of a medical doctor with experience in supporting women and families with breastfeeding that allows diagnosis and management of complex breastfeeding related issues. A breastfeeding medicine GP is a medical doctor with specialist training through the breadth of general practice presentations and additional training in the field of breastfeeding and lactation support.
Dr Laura Baxter is a specialist General Practitioner and Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Dr Laura has done over 200 hours of education in breastfeeding medicine including Possums/Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC) workshops and masterclasses and has recently completed NDC accreditation. She is working towards becoming a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Focussing on breastfeeding medicine allows Dr Laura the luxury of extra-long appointments enabling her to fully explore your breastfeeding concerns with an evidence-based lens.
